How to use dry shampoo correctly for gorgeous hair
In a tropical country like the Philippines, a daily shower is a must to battle the heat. But shampoo, especially cheap and sudsy ones, are full of detergents to wash off oil and sweat. They also strip your hair of its natural oils, leading to a dry and itchy scalp or dry and brittle hair. You don’t have to shampoo everytime you shower. Let dry shampoo be your new hair best friend!
You really don't need to wash your hair every day. Wash it twice a week - a deep clean and conditioning on the weekend and then again in the middle of the week for a refresh. In between, dry shampoo will keep oil at bay and add volume to hair.
Dry shampoo is a hair product that contains starch, which is excellent for soaking up grease and adding texture to hair. It comes in aerosol or loose powder. Aerosol is great for fine and thin hair while powder is best for thick hair and oily scalps. The best thing about Dry Secret Dry Shampoo Extend It is the micro-fine tapioca starch that absorbs excess oils. Its lightweight formula prevents product build-up but boosts hair volume. It also has a patented Two-Phase Odor Eliminating Technology that keeps hair smelling clean. The Black Currant & Peony fragrance makes hair smell delicious!
Here are our 7best tips to use dry shampoo correctly to get the most gorgeous results:
1. Use at bedtime.
While you can certainly use dry shampoo anytime, the best time to use it is at night so that the starch has time to fully absorb oil while you sleep. Tie your hair up in a bun so that when you let it down in the morning, hair will not just look fresher but more volumized, too.
2. Section hair and spray on roots.
Get a comb and clip to section hair. Sectioning helps you to define the oiliest parts of your hair. Parted hair also makes it easier for you to aim the dry shampoo at your roots. With hair properly sectioned, shake the can. This distributes the formula evenly. Then spray directly at the roots, the greasiest part of your hair.
3. Spray from a distance.
Spraying your roots will make you think that you should spray close to your scalp. Don’t! Spray the dry shampoo at a distance of 10-11 inches. Closer than that may cause product build-up. Don’t spray in bursts, too. Just hold down the actuator and spray back and forth. This distributes the product evenly.
4. Let it do its job.
Now you wait. Dry shampoo works immediately but if you wait for the product to fully absorb oil, around 2 minutes, you’ll have the best results.
5. Massage into scalp.
Using your fingers, massage product into your scalp. This helps activate the oil-soaking ingredients and to distribute the product. For extra lift, bend down and flip your hair upside down.
You can leave your hair as is but this is also a great time to style your hair. Dry shampoo gives hair texture and grip so braids, ponytails, and messy buns will look amazing.
7. Use once between shampoos.
Dry shampoo does not replace real shampoo. You may love the volume and texture but going too long with unwashed hair will result in product build-up, clogging hair follicles. So just use dry shampoo once between washes.
